Drill Faster and Deeper with Drill King's Innovative Casing Advance Systems
Revolutionize your drilling projects with industry-leading Casing Advance Systems from Drill King International (DKI). Our advanced technology allows you to simultaneously drill through fractured rock and advance casings from 5.5” (140 mm) up to 36 inches (914 mm) with a conventional down-the-hole (DTH) air hammer. Ideal for most applications including construction piling foundations, water wells, geothermal energy wells, and site investigations.

DKI - Casing Advance Systems
DKI’s Casing Advance Systems allow for the simultaneous advancement of casing as big 36 inches (914 mm) diameter, while drilling through fractured rock with a conventional down-the-hole air hammer. DKI offers two kinds of CAS, ‘WING KING’ and ‘RING BIT’ both systems can be offered for either permanent (left in the hole casing) or retrieved (pulled out) casing depending on project requirements. Additional CAS customization options are also available based on the specifics of the drilling project. Our CAS can be adapted for example to suit non-industry standard casing or extra hard facing treatments for extra pilot and wing wear in hard and abrasive rock conditions. We have flexibility in our production lines to suit your specific needs!
WING KING

DKI’s wing type drilling system is ideal for casing holes through loose overburden, down and into solid bedrock. This simple design with ground engineering applications in mind is easily paired with DKI’s range of DTH hammers. Replaceable wings and other key components, with sizes starting at casing outer diameter 4.5” (115 mm) through to the 36” (914 mm)
Key Features
- Low cost per drilled foot (inexpensive plain steel casing drive shoe)
- To suit industry standard casing pipes (and thicker wall)
- Simple design 2 or 3 wing drilling systems
- Full face drilling for faster ground penetration
- Easy opening and closing wing mechanism

RING BIT - STANDARD

This Drill King CAS has a simple, yet robust and proven design. Comprising of a Heavy Duty Ring Bit, Casing Shoe, Pilot Bit that securely locks into the ring bit via easy locking lug mechanism. This forms a robust oversized-looking face similar to a conventional hammer bit. Available in standard casing sizes 4.5” (115 mm) to 24” (610 mm)
Key Features
- Heavy Duty for the most difficult geologies
- To suit industry standard casing pipes
- For both permanent and retrievable casing pipes
- Ideal for piling foundations, water wells, geothermal energy wells, and site investigations
- High penetration rates in all overburden terrain
- Simple drive lug locking mechanism
- Available for most Hammer Shanks
- Made of premium U.S. steel for strength & durability
RING BIT – PASS THRU

This Drill King CAS has a simple, yet robust and proven design. Comprising of a Heavy Duty Ring Bit, Casing Shoe, Pilot Bit that securely locks into the ring bit via easy locking lug mechanism. This forms a robust oversized-looking face similar to a conventional hammer bit. Available in for casing sizes 4” (102 mm) to 12” (305 mm)
Key Features
- Maximizes productivity by allowing the pilot to unlock from ring, pass thru it, and continue drilling
- Ideal for piling foundations, anchoring, water wells, geothermal energy wells, and site investigations
- To suit industry standard casing pipes
- For both permanent and retrievable casing pipes
- High penetration rates in all overburden terrain
- Simple drive lug locking mechanism
- Available for most Hammer Shanks

FAQs - Casing Advance Systems
1. What is a Casing Advance System?
A Casing Advance System is a specialized drilling solution designed to simultaneously advance casing and drill the hole in challenging ground conditions. It helps maintain borehole stability, preventing collapses, and enables drilling through unstable formations effectively.
2. What applications are best suited for Casing Advance Systems?
Casing Advance Systems are ideal for applications like foundation drilling, water well drilling, geothermal drilling, and mineral exploration. They are particularly beneficial in conditions where loose or collapsing ground requires stable casing as drilling progresses.
3. How do Casing Advance Systems work?
These systems combine a casing pipe with a down-the-hole (DTH) hammer, which allows for simultaneous casing advancement and drilling. The system can drill through loose materials while ensuring the casing is securely placed, stabilizing the borehole.
4. What types of ground conditions can Casing Advance Systems handle?
They are designed for unstable or challenging ground conditions, including loose sands, gravel, clay, soft rock, and unconsolidated formations. They can handle drilling in formations prone to collapse, making them versatile in complex drilling environments.
5. What are the main components of a Casing Advance System?
The complete system typically includes:
- Casing system
- DTH hammer
- DTH Shock absorber (optional)
- Stabilizer
- casing pipe & shoes
- Casing pipe lifter (optional)
6. What are the benefits of using a Casing Advance System over traditional drilling methods?
Casing Advance Systems offer several advantages
- Improved borehole stability
- Faster penetration rates (even in boulders/rock sockets)
- Straighter and more accurate holes
- Reduced chance of borehole collapse (loss of hole & drill string)
- Increased efficiency in difficult formations
- Minimized environmental impact.
- Less downtime and costs associated with casing installation
7. Are Casing Advance Systems compatible with all drilling rigs?
Most Casing Advance Systems are designed to be compatible with standard drilling rigs, but it’s essential to confirm compatibility with specific equipment (Important to ensure rig has enough torque capacity, feed force & pull back especially for deeper holes. Some systems may require adjustments or additional components for optimal performance with particular rig types.
8. How do I select the right Casing Advance System for my project?
Choosing the right system depends on factors such as ground conditions, casing diameter, and drilling depth, drill rig specifications and air compressor limitations. Drill King offers various configurations, so consulting with their technical team or reviewing the system specifications is recommended to find the best fit for your needs.
9. What maintenance is required for a Casing Advance System?
Regular maintenance includes checking for excessive wear on the drilling system drive shoulder, wings or rings and locking pin arrangement. Periodical maintenance including the DTH hammer along with replacement of wear parts are essential for smooth drilling operations. Proper cleaning and lubrication of all drill string parts after each use help ensure longevity and reliable performance.
10. Does Drill King provide support for installation and operation?
Yes, Drill King’s technical department offers indepth customer support assistance for installing, operating, and maintaining their Casing Advance Systems. Contacting our support team can provide guidance tailored to your drilling requirements.
